Appearance-
The Hermit appears to be wearing a long robe, he has white beard suggesting he is quite aged. He has a lantern to lighten his path, and environment around him is dark. There is nightfall and he seems to be going somewhere alone, the path where he is walking looks uneven pointing out to impending dangers yet he is walking inspecting the path carefully.
The Hermit is the Fool's second lesson in this world, the path being lonely plus the age and weak body of the hermit yet doesn't have to stop if the circumstances aren't likely. His posture shows that he is walking, which signifies that life should continue at any point of time. Don't stop while darkness prevails. Looking back would only scare you as you'll see your problems more bigger then they are (signified by shadow), but walk in direction of the light.
