Tarot is a tool for Divination, meditation, getting advice for your problems or concerns etc. The origins of the Tarot deck are yet unknown as there are many different stories related to its origin. Some say they originated in Italy some say they were first found in Egypt, some, these kinda of stories keep coming up but the real origins are yet to be known. There are also a kind of cards called "ganjipha" that were found in ancient India that were used to predict future.

In earlier times the use of Tarot Cards wasn't for predicting future, they were more like playing cards and they were used in a game called tarocci. Later cards were painted into images rather then just numbers and then started to be used for fortune telling. There is evidence of Tarot Cards since 1450AD. The most complete Tarot Deck that was used by the royal families was the Visconti SFroza, which depicts some images of the royal families. Its said that the images of the court cards were taken from the members of this royal family itself.

With the emerging of the printing press and paper the tarot cards became affordable for the common class also and started to be printed for huge mass. The Tarot Cards of the older times had more catholic based images which restricted its use to only few people; until in 1910 Arthur Edward Waite decided to change these images and composed images that most of the people wont mind using. And so he removed all the majority of religious symbols from the older decks and composed a new theme which he got painted by Pamela Smith. And thus the famous and widely used Rider Waite Tarot deck was created by them.
